“Veterinary Pharmaceutical Importers and Manufacturers Association (VIMA)” was formed in year 2016 with the purpose of establishing ethical and sustainable Veterinary Pharmaceuticals Industry in Sri Lanka that meets the needs of the animal health industry and the society. 

Key Objectives of VIMA

Adopt firm policies and practices to confirm the strong and sustainable existence and growth of the Veterinary Pharmaceutical industry.

Promote ethical business practices among member companies and to make voice against unethical behavior and practices of amateur companies and individuals in the Veterinary Pharmaceutical industry.

Liaise with regulatory authorities to update and develop, clear and practically adoptable policies and procedures for regulatory matters.

• Establish professional communication link and ensure better understanding among the member entities.
• Identify common threats and issues of Veterinary Pharmaceuticals industry and to mitigate threats and to find remedies for those issues

Short Term Plans - VIMA

Develop and present a practical proposal to VDCA for prudent use of veterinary antimicrobials

Conduct and continue educational and personnel development programs to general membership and their staff

• Continuous farmer education programs on proper use of veterinary medicine and responsible use of antimicrobials

Long Term Plans - VIMA

Continue farmer education programs on modern farm management practices, disease control and prevention

Continue knowledge sharing and education programs for all industry stake holders by exposing to local and international expertise.

Find, develop and allocate funds to encourage continuous research and development activities in the veterinary related fields.

Introduction of novel technologies to the livestock industry with collaboration of suppliers of member companies.

• Represent Sri Lanka veterinary pharmaceutical industry, livestock industry as a responsible association, when developing regulations for veterinary pharmaceutical industry
